Recession Relief projects

Transition Los Angeles offers a panorama of projects and events in the greater Los Angeles area which can help people cope with the effects of the recession.

In different local areas, these projects and events might range from setting up a food co-op, to a make-do-and-mend session, to growing food, to energy efficiency parties.

** double asterisk designates other projects we know about and admire which are independent from our local Transition Initiatives

Transition Los Angeles is a local network of grassroots community and neighborhoood groups who are working with problems far wider than simply the "recession."  In addition, we are getting our local communities prepared for the effects of the end of cheap oil, the erratic weather patterns and curtailed water supply that are coming with climate change.  We are preparing for the changes in food supplies stemming from both of these crises.  We are examining the dramatic changes to American life coming with the end of economic growth as driven by the limitations of planetary resources. As part of the international Transition Network, we are putting in place both plans and action for how our society can survive these converging crises, while simultaneously building a quality of life which feels better than what we have now.  Read more about us.
